Plougrescant, Brittany 22820

Perched on the heights of Plougrescant, this stone manor house has watched over the bay for generations, offering a panoramic view of the sea that greets you as soon as you arrive. The building, with its imposing proportions and slate roofs punctuated by tall chimneys, immediately commands respect. An ancient stone well, façades of local stone in shades of ochre and grey, and finely carved granite frames around the small-paned windows: everything here bears witness to a carefully preserved heritage. Description: You enter the house through a low arched doorway, and the charm takes hold instantly. The ground floor features a series of reception rooms typical of Breton manor houses, with ceilings criss-crossed by massive exposed beams. The dining room, with its monumental granite fireplace carved with a coat of arms, is perfect for large gatherings. It connects, via a vaulted stone passageway, to a more intimate sitting room where a second antique fireplace, also adorned with a coat of arms, takes centre stage, surrounded by period furniture. A second, long and narrow sitting room extends this living space with its own arched windows overlooking the garden and the surrounding countryside. The kitchen, which is both functional and light-filled, completes this level, with its adjoining boiler room and utility room. A granite staircase, carved directly from the stone, or a more traditional wooden staircase depending on which wing you take, leads to the first floor. There, the bedrooms follow one after the other: one retains its original fireplace
